The opportunity for you:
As a Jr. Accountant, you’ll play a key role in building a high-performance accounting function
You’ll support core accounting operations, help ensure timely and accurate financial closing and reporting, and be exposed to both Mexican and US accounting standards.

What you'll do in a typical week:
- Support the month-end close process: booking journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and helping ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Documentation and Controls: Help document and implement scalable accounting processes and robust internal controls aligned with best practices and compliance standards.
- Balance Sheet Insight: Analyze the movement of key balance sheet accounts, identify trends, and provide insights to support accurate reporting and financial health monitoring.
- Prepare and review intercompany reconciliations and support settlements in line with IC agreements.
- Ensure tax and compliance deliverables are met, including ISR, VAT, DIOT, informative returns, RNIE, and other regulatory obligations in coordination with external advisors.
- Analyze and explain foreign exchange impacts on the P&L and balance sheet.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives, internal controls, and automation efforts across systems (NetSuite).
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, and Engineering teams to support new initiatives and systems logic.
Who are you:
- You have 1 year or more of relevant accounting experience, ideally at a Big 4 firm, startup, or multinational company. You’ve supported full accounting cycles and are comfortable with both local (Mexico) and US GAAP standards.
- You speak both English & Spanish fluently. For this particular role at Nuvocargo, seamlessly switching between English & Spanish is a must
- You are detail-oriented and organized. You care about accuracy and can manage multiple tasks simultaneously without dropping the ball.
- You are proactive and curious. You ask questions, seek context, and are always looking to improve how things are done.
- You thrive in dynamic environments. You’re comfortable with ambiguity and change, and excited to work in a fast-paced startup.
